Description:

Atlantic the 185ft 3 mast schooner represents the culmination of a dream that started 120 years ago. Wilson Marshall member of the New York yacht club appointed the naval architect William Gardner to build at Townsend and Downey in 1903 the fastest yacht in the world, then convinced Charlie Barr the most prominent captain at the time (two times winner of the America's cup) to take on the challenge of the 1905 Kaiser's cup. In an epic Atlantic crossing, they succeeded in winning and setting a world record covering 3006 miles in 12 days and 4 hours, a record that would stand amazingly until 1998. Today the spirit of Atlantic has been preserved with this exact modern replica built in 2010 to a high standard in Holland at Van den Graaf with all the modern amenities and ready for new adventures.
